In 2019, a hearty group of Central Virginia river enthusiasts completed a volunteer digital assessment of the bed, banks, canopy, and invasive species of the Hazel River in Virginia. They completed assessments over 15 miles of riverbed and 30 miles of river bank. Along that stretch, the group removed 4,271 pounds of trash and 5 tires.
